Homeowner #1 contacted us 2 years ago. She was taking care of a large colony of cats that had gradually moved over from her neighbor’s property. Many of the cats were sick with the sniffles and there were lots of litters of kittens being born. She understood the importance of spay/neuter but it was too much to handle on her own. In 2015 we TNR’d 15 adults and removed 10 adoptable kittens. The kittens were all suffering from upper respiratory symptoms and required medical treatment. The kittens went into foster care and received medication but continued to have flare ups of the virus that was affecting their immunity. After months of care they finally were healthy enough to find forever homes. In 2016 we trapped an additional ten adults and removed 4 more kittens. Moving into 2017 our goal was to go right to the source-Neighbor #2! This posed a little bit of a challenge as Neighbor #2 was not concerned about the cats breeding. They felt that this was just, “The farm way”. After many phone calls we were given the ok to come trap on their property. In the space of a month we trapped 19 more cats! We are continuing to work on this colony and we hope to stabilize it so that the kitties can have enough space and resources to be safe and healthy. Our hope is this this might be the first season without any litters born. We have our paws crossed!
